We were about a month away from the wedding and stress levels were high. Work was busy, Ryan was about ready to start final exams, and my house was full the brim with various wedding decor and craft projects - we needed a break! So we packed up the dog jumped in the car and headed out for an unplugged weekend in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. For any busy brides out there, I highly recommend you make some time to go on a mini pre-wedding getaway with your fiance. Wedding planning can be overwhelming and may bring out some ugly sides of you. This weekend was huge for Ryan and I to recharge, talk about things other than wedding details, and really remember what this whole thing was all about.
For our weekend getaway, we did some hiking at Grayson Higlands State Park where we were lucky to encounter some adorable wild ponies! We even saw some babies and expecting mama ponies. I was really hoping to get a photo of Molly touching noses with a pony, but Molly was not having it.

We stayed at cute rustic cabin - basically just a small room with a bed and an adorable porch with a swing and picnic table. It was perfect and all we needed!

We spent our time in Ashevillle brewery hopping and more hiking. Our favorite brewery was the Wicked Weed Funkatorium because I am obsessed with sour beers (the biologist loves the bacteria beers - go figure!) and they have the largest variety of sours I have ever seen.

Overall, we really loved our time in Asheville and already have plans to return this fall!
